Wonder if the factory got washed away. That part might be worth money soon as an antique.

I give a $#!+ where stuff is made.

I buy stuff that meets my level of quality expectation. So I'm with you.

I don't believe there are any American switch manufacturers left. The big switch suppliers are Alps, Hella, Omron and all are from Japan.....

You can't source an American part if nobody is making it here. If it costs $2 more to make here due to taxes/regulations/labor but no customer values the "Made in the USA" tag to the tune of $2 the mfg moves elsewhere. I will and do pay more for American made, the avg person never will (they frequently say they will though).

Don't laugh...the Hitachi Plant that manufactures most of the MAF sensors used in the auto industry got destroyed by the earthquake. Soon auto plants everywhere will idle because of it. Nissan is also moving one of it's engine manufacturing operations to the US because it was destroyed. I have also had 4 clients close their Toykyo offices in the past 2 weeks. This is a horrible problem for the Japanese and the effects will ripple through the entire auto industry. If Hitachi made the MAF sensors for HD then you will see bike production stop once current inventory is depleted.

Used to always crack me up when I had the Roadstar...whenever I went with my buddy he would complain his Harley stuff was made overseas, yet most of my Yamaha accessories had "Made in USA" plastered all over them. I have 2 GM cars that likely have the same thing.
