I ran the Mobile 1 15W-50 from 2001 to 2009 when I could no longer find it in the 5qt containers and first started seeing lots of threads like this lamenting the loss to all us value concious buyers who'd educated ourselves to the M/C specific oil hype.

For the past two years, I've been running
Mystik®JT-8® Super Heavy Duty Engine Oil 15W-50 which I found at my local Oreilley's Auto Parts store in two gallon containers. I looked into it until I felt confident it wouldn't let me down. Two years of trouble free touring later, I'm still smiling.

SeaHag, is that Mystic a synthetic or dino?

I just picked up some Mobil 15w-50 at a Farm and Fleet (Wisconsin store) for $5.65 a qt., nobody has the Mobil in gal (or gal+) jugs around here. I know they handle that Mystic brand for truckers and farmers.

AutoZone does put the Mobil 1 15-50 on sale pretty often. Last month it was their deal at 5 quarts and a oil filter for 29.95.

Thanks for the tip. Went to my local AZ today. The counterman wasn't even aware of the sale. Bought all the 20w50 they had (17 qts). Their oil comes in on Saturday according to the salesman so I'll probably go pick up another case tomorrow. Good deal while it lasts.

Thanks for the inputs.
I'll check the the local Auto Zone to see what they have. Probably end up having have to switch to the Mobil One 20-50 MC oil at $10-11 a quart price or Redline's engine oil. (already run Redline shockproof in the tranny).

No you won't.

Auto Zone has the 20-50 V-Twin Mobile 1 on sale for $7.49 for the month of May..

There is nothing wrong with their 15W-50 either. I choose to run the 20W-50 MC oil because I run in the heat. ( Last year we had 90 plus days of 90 degrees or more, and I commute daily.

Fortunately, between Auto Zone and Advance Auto, I can usually find the 20W-50 for 7 or 8 bucks or so pretty regularly.
