I'd love to be the guy who kills the last frickin deer on earth. That's the 1 thing that worries me about riding too ---- even more than other drivers.

Agree with rt750. The words "cruising along at 55 mph and daydreaming" should never be in the same sentence.

Been there, done that, too. The stretch of Hwy 23 sw of Marshall by Camden State Park has the highest deer kill in the midwest. This spring, the highway department made piles of them next to the road signs when the snow melted.

I was on my way to work following a full size van. Something caught my eye off to the right - looked like a very large buzzard taking flight but was actually a dear running across someone's front lawn. We had just turned off the main highway onto a side road doing about 20 mph when the deer ran right into the side of the van. It looked like he hurled himself at it. Nice sized dent in the van and a very knocked out deer.

Similar situation a few weeks back. Mid afternoon and a deer came from nowhere full speed in front of me. I couldn't have missed it by more than a couple of inches. It rattled me quite a bit I must say.

They've been going berserk around here. Ive seen literally dozens of struck deer on the side of many roads here the last couple of weeks. They should let us hunt them all year round.

Hope this is the closest call you have with mother nature. Can be bad. A friends son swerved to miss a deer three weeks ago, ended up running off the road and is still in the hospital.

Little buggers come out of nowhere - all over the place here in NE. Even see them on base w/100% perimeter fence (10' tall) so I'd say ours should be in the NBA...

Glad you had a near miss vs. impact - they hurt!

Having t-boned a deer a few years ago, I hate them with a passion. Not something I recommend doing!
