Trade my 2011 Deluxe for a 2011 Road King Classic?
#13
Well, it's kinda hard to answer this dilemma because the Deluxe & the RoadKing Classic are the ONLY 2 new Harleys I would consider, & I'd hafta toss a coin if I were buying new, but consider this....
It's always better to regret NOT doing something than to regret DOING something. If you love your Deluxe (and what's not to love;it's beautiful) then you will never regret keeping it, but you COULD regret trading it. I mean--you could ALWAYS trade it, but you can't get it back.
And we're talkin' Harley here--they ain't gonna give you no 16 grand for your sled. They're gonna do ya dry,no Vaseline!
And last--you're gonna hafta start with the customizing all over again.
So my answer is--Keep the Deluxe!

are people who do this just very wealthy? terrible with finances, easily bored? what's up i really don't get how people look to trade in a bike a year after buying it new???

I'm not wealthy....I just never considered a bigger touring bike when I started looking at Harleys. I started out thinking Wide Glide, then I went to Fat Boy Lo, then I ended up with my Deluxe. I like it alot....its a great bike, I just wonder if I looked at the Road King a little more I would have wanted it. In the end, I'm not going to give my Deluxe away, so like most have said, I'll probably do nothing....then only thing i have going for me is that I own the bike, so there is no loan on my end.

the payment will remain LONG after that new bike feeling leaves.

I had a Heritage softail for a year and had to have the Road King. Paid $17,000 for the Heritage, got $14,500 on trade against the RKC at MSRP without any additional charges for freight and dealer set up. Did I take a licking, yes to the tune of $3,500 but it was worth every penny to me cause the RK does things for me the Heritage simply would not do. Am I foolish or a rich dummy. Neither. I watch my money carefully, do not waste on stupid things so if I see something that I will enjoy, I just do it. Only cash, no credit, same wife for 35 years, drink very little. So I have one vice, a nice motorcycle.
