Got stopped at a MC checkpoint..

So my riding buddies decided to go for a ride leaving thunder in the valley in johnstown,pa.

Got a couple miles out of town and ran into a checkpoint. What bs that they were stopping mc's only. They were askin for license, insurance and registration. So heres the funny part. My bro by law didnt have his registration on him. They let him go. My cousin was riding with a paper temp tag in his pocket, no plate on bike at all. Got through ok. I had all my stuff on me. But the Cop starts counting on his fingers... Says I can't have a 10 inspection sticker yet.. Im like ok...?!?! That's what the inspection station gave me.. He kinda gave me a hard time and said he should make me tear it off... Then he let me go too. Thought it was bs to be sitting right outside a city with a huge mc rally and stopping every bike. But I did appreciate them letting the 3 of us go without a problem. my guess was maybe they were more concerned with drunks leaving the rally.

I didn't know you're supposed to carry your registration on you. I have wondered about this, and nowhere is it mentioned during the basic riders course, nor could I find it listed anywhere on Maryland's MVA website. You'd think motorcycles would get an exemption, since there's no place to put it and it's not like it's a laminated card or anything that would last in your wallet. A cop can pull it up on his computer anyway, so I wonder if this varies state by state.

Woah dude? I'd be pissed to be honest.

Can the police pull you over without provocation? For the record I do not fault the police at all. I have absolute respect and appreciation for the police. I fault the state legislature or governing body that allows/requires this.

Obviously if they had cause to stop you I would have no issue but this rings of an over reach on the local/state government to me.

Same old bullshit. Waste of time and tax dollars but one way to keep those dirty bikers under control.

Too bad your rights were violated.

I dont fault the cops at all.I mean its their job.I dont know why people have such a problem with stuff like this. The cops have a job to do and they are just following orders.I dont fault them one bit.Neither do i fault the nazi guards at the death camps in ww2....They didnt make the rules..they were only doing their job. They had no choice.....just like the cops have no choice. Its their job.

edit---no im not serious. It actually makes me want to throw up when i hear of bs like this. Its the same old story but i still will never accept it as normal or even american. Its just a way for me to keep whats left of my sanity.

There are a lot of riders that consider it falling under "unreasonable search" since it is targeting bikes only.
