Anybody out there done the ABC"s of touring this year?

 

What's the ABC's of touring?

 

Not real practical from here.

 

What are the abc's of touring?

 

ABC.s is a fun thing to do
HOG awards prizes for points accumulated
1 point for every town using first letter of name,, a-z
1 point for each county,a-z
1 point for each state
rallys, national parks, country, etc,,,,
its like a pearsonal challange

I have about 60 points this year,,

 

sounds cool. They should add a point if you stop at landmarks, historical sites and other roadside sites.
This year I did a cover bridge ride between the states of NH and VT each bridge the group ( 2 couples) stopped and took pictures

 

I'd hate to reinvogorate an old thread, but I didn't want to duplicate.

My question is, if you ride by yourself, how do you take the pictures?

Also, doesn't it get a bit tedious stopping all the time at city limits?

Plus, I'm not sure exactly which magazine I'm supposed to use. Is it the black one that came in the mail a few weeks ago?

I'd like to try this year, but I have thosefew concerns.

You only have to have yourself in 6 of the photos...otherwise the pictures has to have the sign, your bike, and a current hog tails magazine. My wife and I have both gotten 66 points the last two years. You can take a day and get most of your citys and countys. Its the harder ones you have to keep a eye out for. The Z X...Q...few like that. We usually take a few days ridding just for the ABC's each year. Rode 14 hours and 748 miles one day just to get Xenia Oh and the Indiania State sign. and there some nice prizes.

 

Anywhere But California?

 

We do it and our local chapter "Grand Tour" Very similar in concept but the GT has about 150 target destinations spread out over NC & SC. Usually, I take one pic for GT using GT placard and one for ABC. Got about 60 points already this year. The good thing is that it give you something to ride for and makes you plan a bit to get your points
