High/low and used
I am trying to get an idea of what a "low mileage" machine would be and conversely.... "high mileage"
Used Dyna models in particular.
Friend of mine says anything over 3000 miles is questionable at best, for a used machine.
Seems pretty low to me.
Are there any standard mileages that blurt out "low" or "high"?
Thanks

Hard to say. A person that puts a 60mile one way trip on a bike everyday after spring equinox until winter equinox has accumulated roughly 21K miles in a year, likely highway miles, which in most instances are easier going on an engine, than stop & go type of city traffic miles. What is good low mileage also depends on the upkeep...oil changed, preferably every 3K miles, tune up every 10K, rebuild--I expect a rebuild every 50K miles at least a good top-end+bottom end flush...If a person has had a bike for many years & only put a few thousand miles on it, I wonder what those miles were
& how the cycle has been kept in the in-between.

5-6K/yr is an average for road bikes like 15K/yr is average for cages. This is from the blue book value angle, not the forum 'real biker' angle.

I would think this would also be diofferent depending on where you live
Since in some places of the us and other parts of the world people can and do ride all year
meaning a bike that is only a few years old could seem to have a lot of miles on it in some of these places
