Just because you have a police bike doesn't mean it has a 95". The police bikes came with a stock 88" motor until 2007 when they went to a stock 103".

I don't believe the 07 and up gear set will fit 06 or earlier motor.I think the SE 6-Speed was developed for the 88" twin cams.

Correct.

You have to buy the 6-speed that fits in the early 5 speed case.

Baker is the best. Rev-tech is the cheapest. Screamin Eagle is somewhere in-between.

+1 one on that. Why do you think you need to do this?

Speaking for myself,I travel and camp in New England and NY State and enjoy day trips of a few hundred miles and I enjoy hitting the interstates.I like to cruise at 75-80mph,its fun.It makes the long ride easier on me and the machine. This upgrade, like any other, makes me smile. If I had to justify the 6-speed economically,I couldn't.Hell I can't justify owning a big Harley except it's fun.

I've been considering this upgrade on my 89 FXSTC. It is in need of a transmission rebuild and from pricing the parts I could get the Revtech 6 speed gearset for less. Are there major problems with the Revtech brand?

Baker trannys have always been the most preferred.

29 posts and no one has made an attempt to answer your question. If you can read a service manual, and feel comfortable disassembling a transmission...it is a simple bolt in. I installed a 6 speed on my bike and it was hands down the best mod I have ever done. 6 speeds do not require "built" motors with more HP. My Baker 6 speed was designed for a stock Shovelhead.

A quick Google search will turn up many horror stories of Revtechs locking up at speed...not a ride I would like to take.
