I couldn't agree more....but with those things comes our own issues. Up in the East we have whats called "WINTER"....Its when all types of riders hibernate for up to 6 months of the year. I'm a bit more jealous of the riders south...their season seems to go at least 9-10 months if not longer.

If you get a chance drive through the Appalachians in WV. You wont regret it. This time of year it's at it's best

Moving south is the best move I have made. But I surely do miss some great riding in the north. Only thing is that I dont miss the snow! Cold never really bothered me too much.

The West isn't to bad either.....

Acutally the whole country is beautiful...
everything you need...Coast, Mountains, Desert,Beach, Forests, Cold, Hot, Lakes..etc etc

Only missing Washington and Oregon the variety is awesome

I just returned from another Appalachian trip wondering around the South half of them

Speaking as a foreigner, whatever one says about America it cannot be denied that you have a spectacularly beautiful landscape.

Thumbs up All the lower 48.

As an OTR truck driver for many years, I've been fortunate enough to have been to all the lower 48 states, as well as 4 Canadian provinces. If you put a gun to my head and asked me to pick my favorite, I don't know if I could. Taking a big rig over Hoover Dam before they closed it to commercial traffic was certainly a highlight....and kinda scary!! East of the Mississippi, these are some of my favorites: (remember, I was in a truck so there's a lot of places I couldn't go or didn't get dispatched to )

West Virginia- all of it
Northern N.Y. State- north of Albany....Catskills and Adirondacks....gorgeous
Pennsylvania- saw some monster deer up there so watch out!
Eastern Tennessee/Western NC- Tri-Cities, Asheville, etc
Virginia- SKYLINE DRIVE!
Mississippi/Alabama/Tennessee- Natchez Trace Parkway
Chattanooga,TN/Northern Georgia/Northeast Alamaba- Lookout Mountain, Tennessee River area is awesome.
Maryland- Cumberland area

I thought I would bring this one back as I have gotten further to the east.We left NC and drove to Virginia Beach stepped into the Atlantic Ocean then crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel onto the Peninsula, wife thought it was way cool driving under the ocean, we spent yesterday driving down the west side of the Chesapeake and ended our day in Edgewood Md.
Today we will finish this part of the trip into PA to daughter's house. I had to do the Chesapeake Bay because I spent a lot of years as a pro dog trainer and was a Chesapeake Bay Retriever Breeder/trainer and have an awesome great grand daughter of my best dog so couldn't be this close without taking some pictures of her on the Bay.
It truly is beautiful on the East side of the US.

I'll be heading South East towards the Ozarks and Memphis next summer...looking forward to it.
