I used to jump the Sporty years ago. It was easy as heck. Now that I've added an electronic ignition and done away with the points, it ain't happening. That or I'm getting too old to do it.

Can it be done on a 2011 RK? What's the best technique?

(Eventually hitched to pep boys and bought a tender and extension cord).

thanks.
Used the handlebar switch to shut the bike off...Didn't you?...That is the main reason That I use the key switch to shut my bike down...If there is at least 9 volts left in the battery it should start...I would guess you need a good hill and try to bump start it in 3rd gear.

Yup. Had this "fun" experience when I did a pre-ride check then went back inside to wait out a thunderstorm, leaving the lights on (and with auxiliary headlights I drain a battery faster than most). Fortunately, it took the charge, which I was told it might not if it was completely dead.

I need a charger myself sometimes.

Turn it off and leave it sit for a short time, then try again. If the battery was borderline it may build up enough charge to get it going.
Even carbed bikes (at least anything halfway recent) won't start with a completely dead battery.

I'd think if you tried to pop a hog he'd get a bit pissed and bite your *** for it . Older iron you could get away with it anything the last 20 years or so your wasting a lot of sweat trying , the ign. systems need at least 11 volts to works and with the switch on the headlights draw anything available from the battery .

Do not use first or you will probably just leave a skid mark, Second or third are the gears to use. Oh and be careful if you are running beside the bike, it is a little tricky trying to mount a moving bike.
