Can you "pop start" a hog?

I used to jump the Sporty years ago. It was easy as heck. Now that I've added an electronic ignition and done away with the points, it ain't happening. That or I'm getting too old to do it.

Left the lights on like an idiot--dead battery. Was on a little incline so I tried to pop start it (like with my old VW beetle back in the day). No go.
Can it be done on a 2011 RK? What's the best technique?
(Eventually hitched to pep boys and bought a tender and extension cord).
thanks.

Yup. Had this "fun" experience when I did a pre-ride check then went back inside to wait out a thunderstorm, leaving the lights on (and with auxiliary headlights I drain a battery faster than most). Fortunately, it took the charge, which I was told it might not if it was completely dead.

I need a charger myself sometimes.

Turn it off and leave it sit for a short time, then try again. If the battery was borderline it may build up enough charge to get it going.
Even carbed bikes (at least anything halfway recent) won't start with a completely dead battery.

Do not use first or you will probably just leave a skid mark, Second or third are the gears to use. Oh and be careful if you are running beside the bike, it is a little tricky trying to mount a moving bike.
