Wow, thread from the dead. I came from a Z900. Wanted power, but knee surgeries makes me hate the tuck position. Its not the best handling bike since it's so low, and the rake can make it a pain in a parking lot, but it's the only Harley I'd own.

Vrod = not one of HDs better ideas and sold poorly. The only people that seem to like them base a good bike on nothing but speed. Not what Harleys are about.

Miss my V-Rods every day. Awesome bikes for what they were, muscle cruisers. If HD ever made an updated one, I'd be first in line.

Sorry, but that's just a total BS. It's an absolute hoot to ride, unlike the Breakout or FXDR 114. It's the typical Harley mindset though. Just like the Evo guys talking crap about Twin Cams, and so on, and so on... Modern engine? Noooooo...

Before I bought my V-Rod I test rode a FXDR and was not impressed. The salesmen really tried to talk me into it, but why would I buy a bike that was slower, uglier in my opinion, and over twice the price? Maybe he was new or something, but he kept bragging that the FXDR revved all the way" to 5500rpm...….

Just got an '08 VRSCAW as my first bike (ABS mandatory for me). I really love it, been riding it a month, never plan to take "fast corners..." had some old-timer at The Rock Store yesterday go on and on and on and ON about how it's the wrong bike for me because I'm tall (5'9"). I wanted a Harley because I'm a die-hard fan and I wanted to meet others out in the community. Gee thanks, it's really fun to be told I have the wrong bike, super helpful (sarcasm intended)...

I'll be honest , for longer than I care to admit I believed that the V Rod was a V FOUR . I guess I just assumed that Harley already made V Twins so why would they need a new one .

Get used to it. None of the gang that hangs out at my local dealership on the weekends, and very few of the salesmen for that matter, comprehend that anybody is interested in riding anything other than a heavyweight touring bike.

Everyone should have one of each. IMHO.
