I have an HID kit on mine. But I didn't pay nowhere near $400 for it.
Had a local Indy do it for me for $250 including parts and labor. When the ballast went bad after a few weeks, he drove 40 miles and met me in a gas station parking lot and changed out the bulb and ballast for me.

Can't say it enough...Osram 80/100 from GermanAutoParts.com...
Bright as the sun and a ton cheaper than HID, LED, etc...

Do a search. There was an interesting thread on here a while back about a guy that was killed running one of those modulator lights and someone coming the other way thought he was the police and slammed on his brake. A gal behind him rear ended that guy and pushed him into the biker. He was killed instantly.
Just some food for thought.

I'll take my chances WITH the modulator!!

Yet another example of "no matter what you do, you're at a great risk."
In my MSF course, the instructor preached up an down about wearing hi-vis, neon green and orange riding gear from head to toe. Then proceeded to tell us that, while wearing all that gear, he'd been plowed over by a guy who turned in front of him and another person rear ended him in the bank drive-thru....both in the daytime.
Don't buy the best light setup thinking its gonna save you, buy what is best for what lights do...allow you to see in the dark.

Then it's too late to make any difference.

I love my H-D LED headlight. Quality product, 5-minute install, nice light pattern, lights don't drowned out by oncoming lights, super white/bright. Didn't change the profile of my bike like other auxiliary lights would.

Bass,
You mentioned the thread. Is there a link to an actual article, or is it just an urban myth being propagated? I'm just curious, because I think upgrading my light would be a great idea, and as I read this thread, there is a lot to consider. If that train wreck of an accident was caused by a modular, I'd like to read the original story and find out a bit more about it.
