He's 20...and he has to ask his parents if he can get a motorcye?

And you have to ask your parents?

He didn't have to ask me, but he did out respect for what I thought of the idea of him having a cycle.
As for the grandparents I didn't ask them I told them he was interested and then it was all down hill from there..

When he can buy his own bike, it is his decision to make.

I didn't get through all the replies - but let me join the chorus.

My older son is the one that scares me on the bike... he's 20, and just bought a hyosung 650.

My 16-year-old is rebuilding/customizing a 1985 Suzuki GS550 for a school project.

We're all taking the MSF course later this month.

So no, I don't think you should allow your son to buy a bike. Take away all his money. Lock him in the basement. Hijack his Facebook account and say something rude so all his friends drop him.

Or let him live, ride with him, and be damn glad your adult son cares enough to want to be seen with you.

my 3yo twin sons cornered me this morning and said they want motorcycles.. i'm sure they will be riding something in the next few years.. i started riding when i was 9yo.. i got to go riding next to my dad a few times, it is some of the best memorys i had with him.he had bad knees so he sold his honda after a few years..i still wish he rode, that could be some fun adventures.. there is no way i will ever deprive my kids of that.

In my junior year in HS I bought a car and a bike (honda). Loved the bike, went to college and bought another bike (bridgestone), went into the Army and sold both bikes, came out and bought another bike (Yamaha) all this time I always had a car too. Then came kids, when my oldest was 5 I sold my bike, now my oldest is 29 and he bought a bike (V-Rod), he gave me the bug and now I bought my first HD -FB. I've rented a couple of times previos to this buy but now I'm so looking forward to the summer.......
