I have had this happen with an old bike and a car I own. Just change the oil. You will be fine.

I think the engine will be fine-like was said it might be clened out now LOL! I would also go get a can of Seafoam and put some in the gas tank-like a few oz's and then go ride. Might want to change the oil in a bit just to make sure you get all the fuel out of the oil system.

Just drop your oil for freash stuff (probably best to do a scavenger oil change), no problems, I had the same problem on an Suzuki GS750 I had way back in the day, sprayed oil out all over my rear tire, I thought I was Kenny Roberts the way I was sliding my back end around.

Most carbs that old if they are leaking from needle and seat will overflow from the vent in carb and run out. Not in intake. Should have a vent tube under carb.

change oil and go from there. if it makes you feel better i'd put some cheap walmart oil in it for 100 miles or so then change it again and ride.

Change oil and filter and ride it If there is any residual fuel in the oil it will evaporate as the engine warms. Private pilots from a warm area of the country at times have found themselves into an area where the overnite temperatures dipped below freezing and they could hardly crank their engines over due to the haeay oil they ran (like 50w) They would add a little fuel to thin the oil so they would crank easier.

You changed the oil. Run the bike and see if you notice a real change. If you see no smoking and the bike sounds normal then it is most likely okay. Ride the bike around town and change the oil again. The reason for the vacuum operated petcock was to stop that from happening. Some people change them out for a none vacuum operated petcock and sometimes the vacuum operated petcocks fail. I always turn off the petcock every time I kill the bike and get off of it. It is a habit I developed a long time ago. As a habit I don't pay attention that I have closed the petcock since it is a habit. I have to double check myself to see if I did it now. One thing about the forum is that it shows personalities and habits.

Me too, It is such a habit had to put a label on the windshields of the sporty and lowrider " TURN THE F**KING GAS ON." Been known to forget.
