Every time I see a bike with these types of covers there are a few missing. Do Hot Toppers actually stay in place?

Question:
Since these would discourage the cleaning & waxing of the bolt heads, & especially since they may hold water & prevent drying, has anyone noticed long term damage to the bolts by using these covers?

I've had Hot Toppers on two bikes. My last one was an Evo and now my Twin Cam 96. I've had trouble with the chrome bubbling on some bolts that get hot, such as rocker covers etc. On my Twin Cam, the damn little plastic pin that holds them on the rocker cover bolts while the silicone hardens actually melted. Nope...Bike is not running that hot! Much cooler than many I've seen reported here, 210F oil temp at its worse when creeping in traffic and its real hot outside. The Evo always ran real cool and same issues. Hot Topper does replace them for free though, so its good customer service. I've now switched to the metal ones and have been replacing them as needed. I'm also just replacing many whole bolts on things like Support members primary covers etc. Hot Toppers once told me I must be using too much silicone?? I use just what the direction call for. A very tiny point on the pin only. Don't know if anyone else has had this problem. Hot Toppers say they are far and few between?

I received the Shiny Nutz yesterday and put them on. Look great for the price and as far as I can see they're the same as Hot Toppers. I've had Hot Toppers on one of my other bikes and had no problems with them.
