Those good paying jobs that had a pension at the end of the tunnel created the 'working class' we know today. Those jobs are disappearing at an alarming rate and not because it makes sense. They're disappearing because companies now have more conservative government officials changing laws to crush collective bargaining. Bigger profits for shareholders is more important that workers making decent wages. Harley isn't stupid and slowly eliminate the older workers in favor of the lower paid (without benefits) Should really help with quality control. Someday some of you anti union weasels will reap your own benefits when it comes time to actually try and find a job that pays enough to put food on the table and make house payments and utility payments. Good luck because you're the modern day Jonas. Take your friends job for less and soon enough you and your friends are sweeping walmart floors.

It's a fact of life that businesses are in business to make money. Otherwise there would be no businesses. Why is it that so many people think businesses are in business to create jobs? They're not. Creating jobs is a by-product of a successful business.

Instead of crying that businesses don't care about workers and profits are their primary concern, go out and start your own business. Then the profits can be yours. But most people don't have what it takes. That's why there are more employees than employers. There's a lot less to risk in being an employee.

If you're an employee of an existing business, that business owes you nothing beyond whatever you contracted for, i.e., wages, vacations, insurance, etc., when you took the job. If they default on any of those items you contracted for when you accepted the employment, then you have a legitimate beef, but a job for life was not part of your contract when you took the job. A business cannot be expected to remain in the stone-age and forgo efficiency improvements just so they can retain more employees. If they do so, the long-term result will be no business, and no jobs.

 

Watch that Capitalistic Mentality will get you on Obama's watch list.... No really Watch Guy is correct Business are only in business to provide cradle to Grave Jobs and 100% Free Health Care, 100% Match 401K and Full Unpaid Retirement Benefits to all the Workers of America illegal or not....

Companies certainly aren't in business to create jobs. But the rest of us weren't born just to work ourselves to death for low pay either- so the struggle goes on as it always has. But whose side are you on and why ? That's all you can figure out.
I've been in both sides. it's tough to run a business, but I always tried to pay employees well and treat them with some respect- jussayin. P.S. I think my bike might be a lemon :-(
