To each their own but I don't think I could ever get used to riding a bike I couldn't flat foot. With a 30" inseam I could easily flat foot my Heritage but I wanted even more knee bend especially when I had the wide Mustang seat on the bike.
So I dropped it an inch by putting some shocks from a Deluxe on it that I picked up cheap on Ebay. Bike felt better under me and I barely noticed the reduced shock travel over bumps.

The Night Train I can flat foot, barefooted. The Ultra I had the rear lowered, and I can flat foot only when wearing my boots. The big touring models are tall bikes.

I generally hold the bike with right foot on the brake and the ball of my left foot on the ground and my knee bent.
No clue why, I just don't like standing there with both feet on the ground.

5'8" 32" inseam.
I've sat on most of the HD line. Full dressers to the Sportster line, flat footed on all I've tried.
I would lower it if I couldn't have both feet flat on the ground.
Gust of wind, uneven road, or oil and you're setting yourself up to dump it.
Platform shoes and leg exercises would help those with a passenger on the large size too.

Solo, the ride's just fine and handles great (then there's Shotguns). I stay the hell away from dirt roads either way.

If it works for him it should not matter to anyone else. And why would anyone be prepared to critique another riders method's?
One of the most amazing feats that I ever witnessed a rider doing was on an urban 4 lane street with periodic traffic control signals. There was a rider ahead of me and the light changed to red. As the big Harley slowed to a stop, The rider hopped off the bike on the left side. That is when I noticed that he was about a four foot little person. When the light changed he turned the throttle and jumped and swung onto the bike like cowboys did when they mounted a running horse in the movies.
It worked for him and I am sure we could have cared less about what anyone thought.
