Angry some cager knocked my Bob over: hit-n-run

Not necessarily looking for help or sympathy, but just need to vent!

Went to the bar last Friday night to see my buddies in their band... As we were leaving, found my Street Bob lying on its right side on the gravel. Someone was there with the license number and make / model of the car, so I called the Heat to make the report and go through the motions. Thank goodness I hadn't been drinking. Looks like my (original stock OEM) pipes, peg, handgrip, brake lever and mini-apes were damaged a little. Being insured, though, I was calm until the cop pointed out the tiny dent in the back of the Dark Blue Denim Tank (evidently, the point of impact). AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

Only had this Bob since March. Just cross your fingers for me, is all I ask.

I'm in the same boat with my DX, also only had it since March. Lady hit me tho.... Same kinda damage, bit more maybe, but tank is dinged.
Yours is new? If so may be lucky. Mines an '05, gonna be a loss I think.

You know what they say...

Misery loves company.

That sucks man. I had another guy on a bike knock over my Badboy years ago. He did not take off, but I know the feeling of seeing your bike on the ground. Hopefully the insurance pays up quickly to fix it.

Uninsured motorist should pick up the tab, minus your deductible

hey guys, thanks for the kind words...

Yes, this is why I made a point to call the cops while I was there... to show society I wasn't drunk at the time. I just wanted to hear my buddys' awesome band. The place was packed because the Jagermeister Girls were there.

Yes, I fortunately have decent insurance, but that damn deductible still is gonna hurt...

It's an '08. I can handle all the other stuff, but that damn tank dent just makes me sick... it's so small and way in the back corner where no one sees it, but I can't expect that Dark Blue Denim to be an easy fix.

I am also mainly bummed because of the 'collector' in me... I'm always on about keeping things original. So much for that, I guess... on the other hand I also look at it as maybe time to give in and do some upgrading anyway... I don't know, I'm just walking around the house like a zombie. I haven't even told the OL yet, cuz she's got enough crap on her mind and doesn't need this, too... the damage is subtle enough where ignorance is bliss for the time being.

Thanks again, guys. It's weird, I've been in fender-benders in my cages for years... played the insurance games MANY MANY times... (a few I was at fault, but it was usually 'the other guys') even involved in hit-n-runs before (where those damn license plate numbers do no good). For some reason this is just different... It's weird how you get attached to these damn things.
