Well my first Harley was a 1974 Superglide, cost $3695 brand new and I sold it a year later for $4100. My next harley was a 1976 Electra glide, bought it for $4500 and sold it a year later for $4600. It does not work that way now so maybe the older bikes were better value.

Most people only think of the variable cost (parts and labor) of the bike. Don't forget the fixed cost of R&D. Design, Marketing etc, plus their profit margin. If you don't get a kick out of the bike, then it is not worth it at any price. If you love it, and you can afford it, it might be a good value no matter what the price was.

..the last year a Harley was worth the price was the 1965 FL Pan Head with the new "electric start"....ever since then we pay partly for the metal..and partly for the name...JMO

I'd say 2009. The prices of Harleys kept creeping down for years until 2010 when the price came back up. At least around here. And thats why I bought my FLHTC. Even with color, it was priced cheaper than any of its competitors.
