Looking for opinions on performance clutch packs
So I find my self needing to replace my clutch pack prematurely.
I also have been planning a cam swap and possible having the heads worked.
So I decided to go ahead and upgrade the clutch but I want to keep it cheap.
I have searched the forums and the internet and I see litterally hundreds of opinions on clutches.
Some say simply replacing the clutch pack to SE or Barnett, ect disk and plates and a heavy duty spring with handle a stage 4 build with no problems.
Others claim you need to go all out and replace the whole basket and clutch to a race clutch.
I tend to think that if I replace just the disk, plates and spring, I would have a clutch that could handle anything a stage 4 103" could throw at it.
So here is my question. If you were going to upgrade just the disk, plates and spring? What parts would you go with?
SE clutch pack and spring? Barnett "extra disk", Kevlar? Carbon fiber?
Right now I am leaning towards the Barnett extra disk set-up for the extra surface area. That with a heavy spring should give me twice the grab as the OEM 103" disk that are in it now I would think.
The extra disk alone gives me 11% more area over stock. But what about the SE disk? I was told they have a wider pad area and that equals more surface area over the OEM disk.
Anyone have experience going down a road like this that I am on now?
