I have taken the basic course twice and believe me this is no MSF course not even close! If you think you don't need to be able to make tight maneuvers at slow speed with out sticking out your feet like an airplane coming in for a landing, than you need to park that 800 pound motor. After taking this class I now know how many riders should get this training or park it! JMO. It's not a lot of money to make you a better and safer rider. Who are you kidding.

In fact since I got this new much bigger than I was used to bike (RG), I have been looking for a local course but may have to settle for some slow speed practicing in an empty parking lot.
I am 72 and have been riding for four years on Maui and would love to take the course. I would take the course on my 2009 H-D XL883L Sportster after shipping it to the Mainland and plan a motorcycle cruise after the course to see some friends and some more of the U.S.A., also to polish the techniques learned during the course.

We can all use practice and training. How is a figure 8 exercise copyrighted? A figure 8 is a figure 8.

I would love to take a course like this, but they are inexplicably absent from California, at least the Bay Area. Probably more bikes per capita in this state than any other, and I have to go to another state to take a class.

I don't get it.

Me, I'd rather spend time and money upgrading my skills. Personal choice, that's all.[/QUOTE]

Best call of all! I often pull into church parking lots (not on Sunday), and since parking spaces are usually 9' wide, practice maneuvers between the lines. It always amazes me how quickly you get rusty, but usually in about 20-30 minutes I'm tossing left and right 18' turns and 8's, and ALWAYS do some panic stops, trying to get my stops down to 6 spaces from around 35-40 mph.
Practice is free, and necessary.
