I can't imagine anyone would but I ain't that swift so maybe I'm wrong. I see a lot of comments here from guys/gals talking about they are considering an new bike because of the color.
Seems to me it would be a hell of a lot less hassle and cheaper to just get your tins painted.
What am I missing here?

I'll join in missing something...."that level of disposable income?"
And then ya gotta start all over with your custom stuff again..unless you like a common boring stocker.
I dunno...I'm going backwards....sold my 06 and got an '83.
Plan on keeing that for a long time...but may also pickup an older pan in a few years.

I would imagine it happens a lot for people who have the money. When I got my bike the color was a factor, but I didn't go trade in my old bike just because of the color. I had been eyeing the new style wide glides since they came out and always said I would have one.

well a good part of the reson I got my current sg is because of the color. I had a Suzuki before this bike and was planning on painting a bike basically this same color. and the Suzuki just didn't have enough power anymore I was also in the market for a new bike because of the power issues and I wanted a Harley among other things. so when I seen the tequila sunrise hd orange. I bought the bike. grant it it wasn't the only reason but it was a big part of it other than it was a Harley and basically my "dream bike". so yea I guess you could say I bought my bike just because of the color if you want it wont hurt my feelings. better then black

Not saying it's the wrong thing to do, just amazes me that someone would. My OL's nephew is a multi millionaire. Any on you that live around the Chicagoland area are probably familiar with his car dealership family, Harbor Motors. Anyway, we were visiting him in the late 90's and he took me to his garage to show me his new Lamborghini Diablo.
I told him it was an awesome car and he said he was considering buying a new one. He had only had it about six months, I asked why a new one and he said "they changed the dashboard! It must be nice.

I was looking to get a bigger bike than the sportster and when I saw the tequila sunrise in person and fell in love with the color! So yeah I was trading up anyways but the color was the cherry on top!
