Here's mine in one of the saddlebags; I think it's the "packable" one by HD. Still have plenty of room...

It looks like you can pick up the HD "Canal Street" suits pretty cheap on ebay etc. Can anybody recommend these (or not)? Any tips on getting the correct size? (I am usually a Medium - 38" chest, 32-34" waist, 31" inside leg in casual clothes, but "medium" seems to vary a lot in motorcycle gear and I'm not sure if the HD size chart is meant to be interpretted whilst wearing leathers underneath or not!)

I have the old gray/black Overpass suit which is pretty good but folds into a large roll. My wife does not do rain so we just carry the small round HD packable for her for emergencies. Do not know the HD official name but its the lite weight one they carry rolled into a flat circular pack. Its about as small as I've seen. I think they run about $120.

What I was told when I bought ours and it worked fine for us is don't go up in size over what you normally wear. Reason is they have space built in for over normal jackets etc so if you wear an xl jacket get xl rain suit. hth

That's using Cabella's frogg toggs tops and bottoms that come in a bag and HD gaiters.

I have a little spare room like a set of gloves and maps and maybe a bottle of water extra but that's it, well my tool kit is at the bottom always also.

Ditto

The H-D ones that pack into the hood are small and I can fit two in the bottom of the saddle bag with room left over.

Pitch the bag they came with and get yourself a small compression bag from REI. You can pack those suits a lot smaller.

Very interesting idea, any chance you have a link for that compression bag?
