When to trade?

I have a 2012 ultra limited with 20000 miles on it. I bought the bike new. My dealer told me that when I get 30000 mile on it, that it will be a good time to trade and be able to still get good money out of it for trade.

What do you guys think on miles and resale?

Thanks

Dealers do whatever they have to do for profit.

The lies start with "My dealer told me..."

There isn't a magic number, sell when you are ready. Obviously more miles may reduce the value, but you get the benefit of the more miles :)

All I know is the lower the miles the better the trade in value (usually). If you wait another 10K miles who knows what might happen. If your ready to trade do it now no need to wait.

How do you know when a salesperson is lying? "His lips are moving"!

Like cars, their is no magic point when it is best to trade in a bike. Like cars, dealers make a whole lot more $$$ on trade ins than they do on new sales.

I'm just wondering what people think. I really like the bike and I have it fixed up the way I want it. This bike is a cruiser and I just worry about long trips and breaking down. I know a new bike can break just as easy. I might just keep it for ever and just have motor built when it needs it. This has probably been talked about I'm sure.

The dealer is going to tell you what is going to be to their advantage all the while trying to make you believe it's to your advantage. They couldn't care less about what is good for you. Making money at your expense.

Unless the new RG is something I just have to have I'll be trying to wear mine out. Have it just the way I want it so no need to trade.

20,000 miles on one of these bikes ain't squat if you maintained it.

It is a good time to trade, if you plan on trading in the next couple of years. But if you maintain your bike, and you like it, you save a lot of money by just keeping it.
