It'd bother me more that my wife didn't take my side or at least be a little more neutral, rather than not.

Someone knocked mine over last year while I was sleeping.
they picked it up and put the broken mirror under the bike.
had bent bars, broken mirror and some scratches on the pipes.

I still feel like my forks are bent, but I thin its in my head.

I think you may have mis-read only mention of his wife was when he said she went with him.

I think he meant the cousin's wife was upset. Or maybe I mis-read it.

That sucks dude...I'm not doing to dog pile on you like the rest of these clowns. Looks like you learned a valuable lesson. Hope you can fix your bike cheaply enough.

As I said earlier that does suck. We learn from our mistakes. Many years ago, the first time I got too buzzed to drive my bike home I made arrangements with a brother to get my bike home safe. He did but he took it to my mom's house, middle of the night and parked it in the middle of her flower bed... left me to explain it and taught me a good lesson at the same time.

No, not really. I sure as hell wouldn't leave "my baby" parked someplace where lot's of drunk people have access to it. Sorry, but IMO, you only have yourself to blame. A hard lesson learned...

Glad the damage wasn't any worse.

Years ago as a teen I got hammered and left my bike at a friends. Put away in his garage. Next night about 3 a.m. I get a call from the cops. Seems a buddy had taken it for a ride and the cops wanted to know if he had my permission. Of course I said yes. If I had only known. The "buddy" had ripped the ignition out to get it started then proceeded to lay it down a couple of times trying to ride it drunk. His dad agreed to pay for all damages. I told the shop anything with a scratch gets replaced. Kids dad ended up buying the bike for a butt hair under what I paid for it two years earlier.

Ouch! I won't pile it on either and good that you are open to the lesson here. Even better that you called the taxi - bikes are fix-able/replace-able.
