Anyone recommend a used dealer / Dealer Fees Questions
I'm looking for a used 2013 Soft Tail Delux. I was in Las Vegas recently and went to the Red Rock HD dealership there. They made a fair deal on the bike purchase price, but wanted $1000 in freigh fees, $1500 in assembly fees, and $400 document fee. I told them no way and they told me everyone pays it, take it or take a hike. So I walked. Never heard from them again. They also wanted 15%APR on the loan which is bs all my car loans and previous bike loans I got for 5%APR or less (their excuse was the tightness in the credit markets).
Can anyone recommend a source for a used 2013 Softail Delux? Anyone know of dealers who don't try to gouge?
Also is it even worth a used bike vs new? On Ebay the used bikes with low miles are only $2-$3k less than a brand new one.

Perhaps I am being thick here but why are they asking those fees on Used 2013 bike? Surely it don't need assembling and where's be being shipped from for the freight fees?

They were trying to milk you big time. as for the apr they where no doubt adding ton of points as they are a finance managers bread and butter. I know here in VT the limit is three but not about NV. That said unless your credit is below 600 you shouldnt have the 10 to 12 base % anyway. i would try your local credit union and not the dealer bank becaue finace manager cant ad points and you'll fair better on the base % to begin with.

I've never heard of such add-ons on a used bike! Or any vehicle for that matter.
The documentation fee yes. It's up around $250 in my area. It all boils down to the 'out the door' price, and interest rate.
Stay away from that dealer! Sounds like they want to prey on the customer type that walks in the door, has to have a bike right now,and sock it to 'em!
Compare prices at a few dealers when you get home. And take a look at ebay and craigs list. And don't get in a hurry. When I had cash set aside to buy my bike,it took me a month to finally decide which one to buy. There are THOUSANDS of bikes out there for sale.

This is why the dealer in Shallotte NC opened up. He has one in Wilmington. The next largest market is Myrtle Beach/Charleston both HD dealers are owned by the same person and they rip the tourists a new one. Many Locals buy bikes from Shallotte becasue they don't charge those extra fees if it will lose a sale. Myrtle Beach does but most who don't know about Beach House Harley is stuck becasue Charleston has the same way of doing business.
One HAS to shop around for Harleys. This is not the 90's. The only dealers holding the line on up sales are those who don't have inventory and need all the money from every bike. Beach house has more Inventory than Myrtle Beach Harley so they deal. MSRP plus tax is not abnormal. They had a new 13 Fat Boy for $2000 under MSRP. I passed on it and bought a month old used 2014 Heritage for even less than that.
Cast a wide net.
