Default Unusual sound and feel

I,m running a 2011 Fatbob with Vance & Hines big radius 2 into 2 exhaust, fuelpak, and air cleaner. As i was riding today i got on in pretty good and in the top end of second gear it just lost power. I've heard these bikes have rev limiters but I dont think it was that the sound is hard describe almost like it ran out of gas it just sounded and went BLAAH. I let off of it shifted to third then cycled back thru again and everything seemed fine but i was taking it easy now. Has this happened to anyone else and can anyone explain what happened?

You likely hit the rev limiter very shortly. I've actually never banged the limiter on mine... I usually grab another gear at just over 4k RPM if I'm being a hooligan.

I'd be more worried about that cheap pressed together with a lack of tapered timkens crank scissoring on you than messing up the transmission.

...stupid rev limiter. I hit mine all too often. Really pisses me off as it's usually about the time I'm starting to get in front of my Brother on a straight back road.

You might look into adding a tachometer if you don't have one already. I shift by ear but the tac is nice to have. At least you would know if you were hitting the rev limiter.

Definitely the rev-limiter. Most on this board rarely see above 3,000 RPM, so I say keep it up! If you want to accelerate as fast as possible, you need to shift just before the rev-limiter..ahhh...limits you.

Coming from a GSX 1250 with motor work and before that a GSXR 1340, I was hitting the limiter for about the first week but you learn quickly.

I shift between 3-4k depending. I'll take it up to 5k if I wanna MOVE! Never really got it much higher than that. Stock limits at 5500, stage 1 says 6200 but dyno shows it went up to 6400.
