Sunset on Blue Ridge Parkway
I'm going through a b*ttload of heavy 'stuff' and needed a bike trip for some head time. . . so let the bike go where it wanted. This is sunset last Thursday on Blue Ridge Parkway. I don't know about the weekends now but the weekdays there was hardly anyone on it day or night. As a matter of fact after the sun went down I was the only one for many miles. It's intensely surreal and peaceful. If you have never been on it, now might be the time before the leaves begin turning and it loads up with people. Obviously be aware of deer. I posted a couple of these in another thread a couple days ago.

Which direction were you going and where did you start? Sunset and later is probably not the best time to be on the parkway.

Of course, but it was what it was. Heading South . . this was south of Asheville. Got a room in Cherokee (nothing much to see there except commercialism and touristy crp).

Brp
Week prior Memorial Day weekend, wife & I rode the entire BRP. It was awesome! Got on in Staunton, then Mt. Airy, Maggie Valley (Wheels thru time) and spent a week south of Chattanooga... The BRP was deserted. The Dragon, moonshiner 28. The days were great, the nights were better! I'm thinking it's gonna become an annual event now!

I love the BRP. Usually ride there once a month, sometimes more. Of course, being from NC and only about 1 hour from home makes it a nice day trip. I guess my favorite part is around the Mabry Mill area in Va., Lots of nice memories with the wife there. No doubt the parkway is a national treasure. Thanks for great pictures.

Great pics!
Awesome scenery.
I've got to get up there soon with the bike. We try to get up that way once every year but have never had the bike with us.
If I lived in smokies mountain area I would probably never be at work, I'd be out riding the roads. LOL
