There is another forum specific to Sportsters.... XL Forum ..... I have spent a great deal of time there. Like this joint, it does offer lots of good info, lots of ragging/tagging, some will bust your chops, others will give you the shirt off their back. In all it is an excellent forum for Sporty's... just as this is an excellent forum for HD owners!!!
I couldn't have done what I have so far without that service manual. Its essential. Definitely learning the bike inside and out. Again sorry for wrong thread, I didn't learn about the sportster specific forum until after I posted. But so far I'm loving the support here! Besides a few jackasses

my 2001 sport still humming and i flog the crapola out of it, built as a high speed machine and i take it t 7.5k rpm many times and will peg out the speedo when i drop out of third.
so it is what it is.
awesome to hear, I hope mine ends up with that many miles on it

You may have to put money into them but at least you won't have a bike worth $2500 and be $7k out of pocket.

I have an old Ford, I have about 10k in it, it's worth $2500 bucks. Rats chewed up the wiring harness, that's what started the whole thing. Then it was tires, exhaust, starter, alternator, fuel pump, heater core, windshield wiper motor, ac pump and that's just what's on the top of my head.

Not worth it, just my 2 cents, take it for it is. Hope it all works out.

Default Not a bad bike

I bought a used 05 1200 custom with 5000 miles on it .4 yrs later with 15000 on it the only problem I had was a bad grounds cable .I like my bike. And I want to install a monster 9p inch big bore kit can't wait .you have just about rebuilt your bike .but upping to 1200 would be a good deal for you .
