With an external venting system , would that still be possible ? I did the external 2 years ago when I did the cams , usually adding some sea foam to the tank once or twice a season .

That is definitely a thought though !

Have you tried running the bike up to the red line a couple times? Maybe blow the carbon out..

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter. Might want to check fuel pressure..

Some bikes will have issues with the fuel connector on the bottom of the tank. The connect can randomly cut fuel.. With it does so the motor shakes enough to reopen the valve.. You may need to replace the line from the tank to the throttle body..

I did have it at red line today , gave it a couple good pulls when stopped .

I had the fuel filter , hose and whatever else needed to be replaced inside the tank last spring . My indy told me my fuel pump and regulator were good , so I'm guessing the pressure was good .

I had the bike out today for a good 3 hrs , and it never missed a beat , I was quite happy . If anything comes up again , I'll go see my indy and relay the things I have on here . I imagine some of the things on the bike will have to be addressed sooner than later , after all , it is 13 years old . I do meticulously maintain it and keep a log of everything I do , including what the indy does as well .

Appreciate your help !

Earlier , I thought I read a post about putting an ohm reader on my old plug wires , out of curiosity , I did . The front one gave me a reading of approx 12.4 ohm's , with no fluctuation when I twisted them around . The rear one gave me 5.4 , again , no fluctuation .

This is something I didn't think of doing , however , I'm glad I changed them out , being 13 years old , it's just good precaution .

I called my indy today and had them put aside the bottom hose connector for the tank , you just never know , might as well change that too .

Just out of curiosity, what is the length comparison between the two plug wires? The front twice as long as the rear? 5.4 * 2 = 10.4. Like I said, just curious.........

I would have to say that the front one is about half the length as the front , maybe a little less , which does make sense , referring to the ohm resistance I got .

Edit - Just went out and measured them , from the very inside of each boot , just the cable , the front one is 33 1/2" , and the rear was 13" .

Different bike different age...

My 2017 Sportster plug leads are of a resistive type. The front being shorter is expected to have a resistance of 1,750 to 4,836 ohms and the rear 4,843 to 15,420 ohms.

A 2008 Sportster is the same.

Well , unfortunately it happened again . I had just fueled up and was heading out on the freeway , I could feel the bike starting to surge when all of a sudden , it just went to idle , no throttle at all . I remember going over a rough patch of road , just like last time , so I'm thinking that may have caused it to happen .

I managed to idle my bike home , was not to far , so now the search begins . I'm thinking it's somewhere in the bars . I mentioned before , how the connectors in the headlight bezel were rattling like crazy , so I put some foam around the head light to stop the wind from causing that . I'm thinking the excessive vibration might have broken a wire or two , now to search .

I have the bezel taken apart and all the wiring exposed , hope it wasn't a waste of time .

Did bring up codes when I got home , the two that came up were , P1511 and P2135 . I will google search before I go any further .
