Smudge trapped under clear Any idea how I fix this??
I did the dealer thing .. No Help drug on almost 2 years ...
Called Harley Customer service ( little Better )
The conversation started out good .. but ..
End result is I have faulty paint and I need to fix this on my own
Other option is to take my daily driver apart send my fender to caliber ..minimum 50 day wait with no guarantee they will honor the warranty .. and I would have to pay the labor for the R&R
I was told wait time is more likely 4 months or more ...
Did I mention the dealer never gave me my stock tins after they installed the custom paint set on
I did ask them for an ANY color fender to put on my scoot till they figure out whats what .. got shot down ,,
I even offered the dealer this ..
Give me a new fender @ cost and I'll call it even ....
Once again shot down ..
Could I have bent any further backwards ........
Good thing its not a door on a new car .. I would look like Ricardo Montalbon ... ( Fantasy Island )
All kidding aside
I really need to repair this
How much clear do I need to remove
Where I'm worried is hitting the color and wrecking the whole thing
The funny thing about the clear issue
certain times of the day it is 100% un seen
others it sticks out like a sore thumb ..
The best time for it to be seen is cold or damp weather AND in the Sun for about 1/2 hour ...
Any help would be appreciated
If I ruin it then I take my last option and buy another cutom fender
with a retail price of $695.00 Part # 59914-06BXE
Any Help is Appreciated
Rick

I did give that a shot
This is under the clear ...
What it did was make it shine like a new penny
What I had in mind was Maybe break the surface of the clear
and use a prep solve to Possibly take what ever the cloud is Away
I'm guessing its greasy hand / finger prints ,,
And Humid air seperates the layers
I'm really not a Paint guy but seen all kinds of stuff working around
machines most of my life,,,,
But this one is new to me
Have you ever seen this before first hand ?

Hard to say from the pics. Was this there when you got it? Has it always been the same (i.e has it become more evident? Is it growing in size? Changing color/becoming more milky?) ... whatever it is, whatever the cause, the fix is the same.
If you tried the sand & buff route, but it's still there, you didn't sand far enough down - you have to sand it out. Of course, that's assuming there is enough clear under it after you sand it ... which is not likely, unless the imperfection is in the top coat of clear. If it's in the first coat of clear (I'm guessing there are two coats of clear), when you sand it out, you'd be down to the paint.
There really isn't an easy or simple fix for this. You've got to sand it out - which is going to be a delicate process. If the problem is in the paint layer, a non-painter would likely have a tough time doing the fix.
No matter what, given you've already done some sanding and it's still there, I think it's safe to say you'd, at the least, need to scuff of the rest of the clear, and shoot another coat over the whole thing.
... Or, you could just put a sticker over it!
And.. What the heck is up with the dealer keeping your stock tins? They belong to you, so, the dealer STOLE them from you. I would ask the dealer, once more, to return them immediately. If they do anything other than return them, explain you are going to file a police report for the theft (and then do it. Call the non-emergency number, and ask a cop to meet you at the dealer, so he can question any potential witnesses).
As for sending it back for a warranty repair, you should certainly do that. Find a cheap fender on eBay, pull the custom fender off yourself, put the new one on - send the custom one off for 4 months, or whatever it takes. You spent some serious coin on a custom painted fender - it should be flawless.

I was told they were sold ..
Guess i'm too easy going at the time the custom set looked nice
I brushed it off .. I complained to the dealer about 2 months later the paint was flawed
and over and over for almost two years
Just didnt want to rock the boat .. although I found thats how you get results.
I got the run around ...
After talking to a few people It may be a Better Business Buereau thing now
heres the offer I made them
Lend me a fender .. after all you did hold back a complete paint set form me ...
The I saud I would pay cost for a new one and let them off the hook
Both offers were refused .
I always owned Used Bikes
Against my better judgement I bought new and had nothing
but aggravation,
I take pride in the Bike and feel like everything else I ever owned
Fix It Myself ...
I know I shouldn't have to But what else are my choices ?
4 months does not warrant that I will get a new fender
Can you just imagine how P.O'd i would be then
wait all that time with the bike apart to find out I get it backl
most likely with more damage from shipping .....
I try to be as patient as I can ,,
It's what I ask of my Customers when I run into issues I have no control over
Back ordered Parts , Warranty Claims etc....
But I'm wearing thin ....
