I am hoping to find a solenoid push to start button I can install on my 1988 fxstc Softail. I have the round solenoid for which the FSM states "The solenoid installed on 1984-1988 models is separate from the starter motor'. Is there a solution for my bike?

No push button for that type solenoid.

out of curiosity is the solenoid under the chrome cap composite material?

 

 

yes it is and it had cracked on mine. My solenoid has a few bugs with it so much so that I'm worried its going to leave me stranded. I'm going to go ahead and pick up the lever solenoid and give it a shot.
