Real simple answer.....wear what you feel most comfortable riding in. Your bike, your head, your choice.

That's the best part... the Choice.

My wife and I talked about it yesterday (did I mention stuck in a freakin' car for 12 hours), and she mentioned the fact we do have a seat belt law here.
anyhow, before they inacted the seat belt law here, I wouldn't wear a seat belt. No way, couldn't remeber, it was uncomfortable, blah, blah, blah...
But after my son got a $25.00 ticket for not wearing it (which I paid for [:'(] ) I figured I wasn't going to give the City/State anymore money than I have too.
So I guess I can conform.

Well we don't have a choice downunder ... we all have to wear helmets, even on bicycles!

I like the idea of the wind through my hair, but bone versus metal or concrete scares me. At least wear a half helmet...[sm=vader1.gif]

I wear a full face all the time. I have seen a few folks go down and prefer to keep my skin right where it is. I think the term risk acceptance comes to mind. Folks that ride w/ out gear have a higher level of risk acceptance than I do. I am outside of Charlotte NC and even on our 98 degree 85% humidity days I have on a full face.

WBNiner, risk acceptance is exactly what it is. I have two little girls and I'm not willing to die just to be a little cooler (both temp wise and looks wise). I know that's extreme but there are days when I think maybe I should just get a skull cap but then I think about my girls and forget about the skull cap.

I hear ya 12Stones! I don't even have kids... or a wife.. but I do have a dog and she depends on me to feed her! I have 3 bikes, a Triumph sportbike, an older Honda standard and the VRod. I wear boots, gloves, jeans and a jacket in addition to the full face no matter what bike I am on. Does it get hot? It can.. but a mesh jacket and proper gloves help that out. Doing your research on helmets helps alot. I have 2 Shoeis that vent very well. I know when alot of other HD riders see me in my gear they think I must be crazy, but that is ok... most of them already think I am crazy for riding "one of those new fangled VRod things".... LOL I'd rather play it safe and never need the gear than not to wear it that one day the old lady pulls out in front of me.

Personally I find the fullface too restrictive.

I know it's the best protection, but I like the better hearing and vision with a 1/2 helmet.

Yeah it is all in what you get used to. I rode through my neighborhood once without a helmet... it felt like I was running through the mall naked. Very liberating but also really disturbing to me. I think what ever you get used to doing when you try to change it feels very odd.

No doubt WBNiner, same as me getting used to wearing a seat belt. [:'(]
