Planning a ride from Makinaw City to Whitefish Point to Christmas MI. Is there a good route along the lake from Whitefish Point to Christmas? It looks like you would have to go south out of Paradise to 28 and on to Christmas. Alot of "little roads" from WP to Xmas, but are they good on the bike? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That will be a great ride. I suggest taking M123 all the way from Mackinaw to Paradise and then back down to Newberry with stop at Tahquamenon Falls. If you ride early morning or evening on 123 watch for the deer! There are no good roads from there to Christmas other than M28. If time I'd take a detour up M77 to Grand Marais. I've heard of plans to pave county road H58 from Grand Marias to Melstrand. From there it is pavement to Munising. You can check with local folks in Grand Marais about the paving. If not paved the ride could be a bit rough going sincespots of sand two-track. Have a great ride.
