damn... those things get bigger every year.

 

I bought a nice used Bushtec Roadstar GT trailer, last year, and hope to enjoy the extra space soon. Also bought a 30T front belt pulley,if needed, though I doubt I'll need it. (not installed)

 

I just started pulling this as well with 2012 Road Glide. Love it and getting the 255 cams to help. Question. I'm feathering the clutch more than normal to get going from a dead stop. Any concerns about the stock clutch?

 

Without getting into the weeds on which bike would best pull a trailer, Let’s backup and ask about the trailer that you want to pull. How heavy is the trailer when loaded? How much tongue weight? What is it’s width and length? What size of ball? And the electrical needs?

I'd suggest you question your brakes, more than the power of your bike...

 

For you folks that pull trailers - what are the insurance requirements? I have heard that once you stick a trailer on the back of a motorcycle - most insurance policy's are void. I haven't got to the point where I am going to pull a trailer since I solo ride 90% of the time. But always looking at options. Just seeing what other riders are doing when they pull. Thanks!!

I purposely checked with my insurance company and they said that as long as the weight being towed is less than 2/3’s of the motorcycle’s weight and does not exceed the hitch manufacturer’s recommendations, I am covered. My hitch is a HitchDoc with a maximum tonque load of 40 lbs.

 

This is my '16 Triglide with my '05 Aluma trailer on our trip to Yellowstone last year. We pulled some pretty tall hills up into the 10,000 ft level and had no problems. This picture was at Bryce Canyon Ut.
