Default Camper trailer brakes

I'm thinking real hard about getting a camper for My 04 E Glide. Can't find a used one yet that I like, but I noticed on the websites a lot of them offer trailer brakes. My question is are they necessary ? Does anyone have them on theres?

thanks in advance

I think it wouldnt hurt if it came with electric brakes. I use more gas pulling a trailer and I use more braking time stopping it. I also know that if I had to brake hard in a turn. The trailer could force the *** end of my ride outwards. On a trike thats not as bad as two wheels.

I would suggest you upgrade your brake lines on your bike to stainless steel lines and use premium brake pads such as EBC kevlar pads. You will gain a very noticable amount of stopping power from those changes. If you want even more, you can spend some coin and get 6 piston P&M front calipers which give you more stopping power

I have Dexter axle co. electric trailer brakes on my Aspen Classic. Work well and I like them.
