Default Lean motor question

Why does a lean motor run hotter. Seems backwards to me?

Same reason blowing on a spark starts a fire. More air =hotter burn.

Could also be the cooling effect of the additional fuel.

With a leaner mixture, there is a more of an efficient or complete burn. There is enough oxygen to combine with all of the hydrogen in the octane molecule. Clear as mud? lol

why does a blacksmith use bellows on his fire ?to make his fire hotter.its a no brainer.
