Back into a HD after some years on other bikes. Bought an '06 Street Robert ( trying to avoid using the Bob word ! ) and would like to internally wire the bars. Currently it is fitted with 1 1/2" bars and dimples plus holes for internal wiring.

My query relates to the lower end of the wiring sub loom. Does it connect directly behind the plastic cover behind the headstock ?
Are there special tools required for the removal of the individual wires from the plug ?
Any tips on removal and replacement would be appreciated.
I don't own a service manual as yet, living in a slightly remote location can be a hassle sometimes.

I cut the wires between the fuel tank and handle bars. Fed the wire through the handlebars and soldered them back using shrink tubing. No special tools....just paitence.. If you go this route, disconnect battery though.

 

Thanks, I'd prefer to disconnect at the wiring connectors.
