i was riding my bike in third gear about 30mph... when suddenly it decides to shift down to first gear all by itself... no metal on metal noise coming from the trans... and with the engine off... i can put it in neutral and push it... but it will jump into first... what is going on??? shifter forks problem??? comments please???

 

the shift selector has stay springs and lock in place locators with small hold springs one or one of each might be broken letting the shift mechanism flop around -- johnjzjz
