Recent heart attack ( no. 3 )has me contemplating the finer, more important things in life. So, I dug out the old Harley project from the depths of the garage and am now in the process of finishing it up. :-)
Originally purchased as a rigid with a 45 degree rake and a 20 over springer front. Generator style left case with alternator right and 80" S&S top end. Came with a DelOrto carb and Morris magneto, kick start only 4 speed ratchet.
Old age and a bad back retaliated after a few years against the rigid and the kick start only. The Morris mag and Del Orto carb didn't help. Along came the Santee swing arm frame, wide glide front end, distributor ign. and a worked CV carb. Started with one or two kicks more often than not but still decided to go electric start. Then heart attack no. 1 came along and the bike settled into the dust and spider webs of the dark end of the garage. Over the years, would go out and start it and heard the teeth of the ring gear grinding but still started and I'd run it a bit and then shut it down to next time. Six years have now gone by and now have the primary open and fixing things I f*#ked up the first time. Hoping in a month or two to have my baby back up and running.
