I've always understood them to be metric measurements for O.D. & Depth (52mm x 21mm), but 1" I.D...that's why it's difficult to find an aftermarket replacement. Saw an Amazon ad for the Chinese bearings I bought (via ebay) showing pix with a caliper measuring both...caliper showed 2.046" x 0.824". I haven't measured them myself.
