Puglia10: I hope your project is going well. I have a 2004 FXDX in black. I improved the handling by going to a 3-inch rise. I achieved the rise by just cutting out the straight part of the bars between the hand controls and the part that bolts to the risers. I used a 1-inch long 7/8-inch insert cut from a bicycle handlebar to hold the upper bars to the center section. After I rotated the upper portions to fit my arms, I then had a muffler shop weld the sections solid for $5. I have since gone further by eliminating my risers and making a bracket that the bar ends bolt to. Check out my album for an image.
