Sounds to me like he bought a Victory and now has some regrets . Now has to try this so he can at least look at his victory.
Seems HD has been working on the M8 for about 10 years. I think Hd was building a V twin long before victory.

Yeah, $hit I don't know. I have a good buddy that's got a Victory. I've put a bunch of miles on it. Great bike really. I'd rather own it than a Kawasaki Vulcan, or any number of other asian HD clones.

But to say the M8 is a Victory copy is... Well it's a stupid comment really...

Oh man, that's definitely true!!!!

I've ridden bikes since '72. A couple dozen of them. Only 6 or 8 have been Harleys. I'd ride a Vespa 9 or 10 months out of the year rather than be on 4 wheels.

Yeah, true. But I justify it with the fact that my HP bike gets mid 40's MPG. ANY car I'm interested in gets 1/3 that. I'd rather ride my bike, or LOTS of other bikes, than be stuck on four wheels.

Now I will never refer to ANY motorcycle as a piece of crap. I love all things motorcycle. I own a Harley because its something I want. If I had not been blessed with the ability to afford a Harley, I would probably still own a motorcycle.
I can definitely say that today, but when I started riding in the 60s, the only thing I could afford was a used bike. I was living on my own at the end of my 2nd year of high school and needed transportation. The price of a car, gas for it and insurance was way beyond my means.

Motorcycles fit the bill perfectly. Went from Brit bikes to a used K model before going into the service. Came home, bought another HD and never looked back. There are other options out there in terms of other m/c companies but none appeal to me (for others the idea may be different).

I do think the M8 is one of the best designed motors that MoCo has come up with and will be the future of the company for a very long time.

The very thought of a twin cam bike being referred to as old is amusing to me.

oh just be really honest, in that both American companies are merely following the long lead of the Japanese, Italian, and Germans. If anything Victory, Indian, and Harley, are all lazy as hell when it comes to making better bikes. They seem to want to have a contest in who can make the most overweight bike on the market.

That being said, the new Indian dash with the large screen is abhorrent to the extreme. The best option for any large digital dash would be to copy Audi/VW's gorgeous virtual cockpit where the display becomes what is needed for the use at hand.
