Heated grip install on 17 RGS

I installed the Limited Harley hand grips in an hour and a half. It's a simple install. All the plugs are behind the gauge cover.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...789fbfe662.jpg
Here's the throttle side with HG ready to plug in.

There's and hole in the plug that a allen wrench aids it the installation.

Here is the plug installed.

Here is one of the leads that plug together.from the clutch side

And here is the other plug in. There's a dummy plug in this one that has to be removed.

I toke the bars off to feed the wires for ease.
I took a two hundred mile ride and meet up with some friends. Got back home around ten last night. The grips were to hot on three for me, I had to turn them down to the second setting. The temps were in the high forties and low fifties, which is pretty cold for a Texas boy.

Hope this helps someone out.

I know this is an older post but am in the middle of this job right now. The male plug for the power source and the female plug from the left grip don't fit each other. Did you have a match there? Pisses me off. It would be super easy instal if not for that.

I have the same problem. 2 females won't connect to each other. Factory HD kit missing connectors?
did you complete your install?

Getting ready to do the heated grip install on 14" bars in the next couple weeks. Curious what size bars you guys are installing and if you need extensions?

I have installed 12" with only electric extensions needed. You definitely will need brake and clutch lines with 14" . I was able to make 12" work on my EG by rerouting a little in fairing.i have heli bars now and wont need to change again.

good luck with install.

I ran into the same problem with the power. I ended up running it up into the fairing. Wish now I had more patience and done whatever was supposed to happen right there in the console.

Also, Wild 1 14" apes using factory brake and clutch lines. Rerouted the lines at the neck. Works fine but will eventually replace them with longer - or not. Not a priority at the moment.

14" KST straight jacket, no wiring or cable changes needed. They are nearly as narrow as stock though, so that helps. Some day I might swap brake/clutch, just for style reasons.

I'm on my second set of heated grips (style changes only), both have been just a few minutes to install plug and play in the gauge pod on a Road Glide.

I installed the limited style rubber grips on my 2018 RGS today. Very simple everything right there in the Pod did not have to remove the bars. The power plug kind of threw me, until I remembered this thread and dummy plug. Kit comes with all kinds of adapters but I didn't need any of them.

OK Going nuts trying to find the power wire/plug on a 2019... Can you tell me where you found it on the dummy plug ???

Ride Safe. JIM
