1. Ability to Log data for map tweaking.
2. Auto tune. This is where you WOULD need to leave it on and add the wideband sensors.
3. Graphs and gauges. There are various gauges you could monitor while riding if you wanted to.
If you take it off the bike, IT DOES NOT effect the way the bike runs. Don't confuse this with a Power Commander V which must be on the bike to work.
Power Vision flashed the ECU with a new map
Power Commander 5, and other like fuel devices modify the signals coming out of the stock ECU to the injectors to "apply new tune" and get the added performance.

I installed my FM SS headpipe about 2 weeks ago. Sounds great with my VH monster rounds. Fp3 map with power duels was spot on for the tune. Clearance on the cam cover is very close, but no problems. I'm getting too old to crawl around on the garage floor that much. I've bought quit a few products from FM, great customer service.
