they just did a new frame in 2009 or so. I cant see them changing the frame honestly. But who knows. Besides that, its always the touring models first then the other models follow

Finally a reverse. Just like my snowmobile engine. It almost kills the motor and spins it in reverse. Yea!

The 114 will be the S versions and you have 5-10 new so called touring models right there.

I think the touring line will keep the rubber mounted motor/frame. There's enough vibes on the new Softail I think many touring riders would complain. My '16 RK was dead smooth about 60mph, the '18 Softail feels better/more interesting than the TC "B" motor at freeway speeds but not as smooth as the touring bikes. Personally I prefer the M8 Softail vibes and wouldn't hesitate to ride cross country, but I think I'm in the minority to what you touring riders are used to.

114 should be a no brainer. It'd be nice to go back to a cable clutch too. Feels great on my Heritage.

i could see myself trading my 107 SGS to a 114 road glide if it becomes standard. I like my batwing but i also like the roadglide as well. I assume harley will make it standard if not next yr but in the years to come. Talking my wife into letting me buy another new bike would prolly be my only problem.

I don't know when hd will put the 114 in the touring but I think they put it the new softail lineup to cloud people's view of the fact that they killed the dyna and to make the people considering buying one feel like they were getting something extra. Just look at how many posts there are about how much people love the 114 in this and that ...I haven't seen a hate post in awhile lol...hd's marketing strategy is working. I'm not looking for a new bike yet but I know I'd hold out a year or two to see what they do to the touring line.

If HD made the 114 standard, the 107 would be the shortest lived engine they've made to date - so I wouldn't look for that happening anytime soon.
Usually they run the introductory engine size for something like 10 years before upping the ante. Stranger things have happened though, so who knows.

Nothing was clouded and I don't "feel like I got something extra"...as an FXR and Dyna guy I can attest that the new frame and suspension outperforms anything prior. They killed the Dyna in name only, but everything we loved them for has been significantly improved in the new design. We'd be bitching if it wasn't, but it was so we're doing what we always did....smile and ride the better bike

As for the 114...nothing "market spin" about it either. It is my favorite motor since my Evo hands down. It is a happy beast that feels like it has a long life ahead of it...(knock wood)...best running Harley motor out of the box period.

They will introduce it whenever the bean counters determine it will make them the most money. My guess is in '19 or '20 they'll be able to get a large enough % of the crowd who just had to have the new 107 feel that now they absolutely need a newer 114.

I was planning to trade my ULL on a SG or RK but went with a 114 Softail, partially because I suspected that in the very near future HD would introduce the 114 to the touring bikes and I'd kick myself for getting the 107 .

I’m just glad they made the 114 an option in something this year or the 2017 CVO’s would have been the only models with them for who knows how long. As it is I am not sure having the only CVO year with a 114 is going to be good or bad down the road a ways.
