I've read the same. I don't understand though. Allot of these guys on the forum are reporting sumping and transmission transfer with fairly low miles. I know they have put out 3 or 4 various versions of oil pumps to try and stop the sumping issue. If they had done millions of miles of testing, why wasn't the issue found during testing. It just makes me skeptical about what else may have been missed in the millions of miles of testing.

 

Test bikes are hand assembled woth attention to detail, and the parts are not mass produced. All the testing does is prove design theory. Once the parts are mass produced and products, are assembled on an assembly line its a whole new animal. The real testing begins with the customers.

 

I NEVER check transmission fluid in any vehicle I own unless it gives me reason to and NONE of my Harley's ever have. I have a 5 year warranty and although I do not look forward to downtime at least I have another bike. Furthermore this is the first thread I have opened regarding the M8 transmission. Only did that because of the thread title. I am not in the club that the M8 is problematic and complaining about all of the issues they have. I am usually too busy riding my bikes. Party on.

 

Agreed, I certainly can’t explain it. My bike seems to be unaffected though so I’m good..... for now. It’s all stock except for some lighting I’ve done. Instead of spending money on mods, I’m looking at buying a bar hopper, a very loud one.

An over filled primary turns the lube into a frothy mess. The MOCO just doesn't want to pay dealers to pull the cover and draw the fluid back down to the correct level. They're content to wait until a customer complains about clutch performance before they do something.

 

I was at the dealer past saturday to drop off my bike, noted in other post about adding trans fluid. Service manager showed me a memo about the issue and that there is no fix at this time, customers are to ride for 1000 miles, return to dealer for fluid check and adjustment. Here is the best part, MOTORCYCLES AFFECTED: 2014 to 2018 TOURNING MODELS WITH HYDRAULIC CLUTCH! You mean to tell me that they knew about this since 2014 and don't have a fix yet? That is pretty sad for sure.

Now before you all ask, I was not allowed to hold, touch, copy, photograph, or even read the entire document. It was shown to me as a gesture of good faith by my service manager. If there was a number such as TA 0022, I did not see it. It may have been there, was trying to read all I could in a short amount of time. Kudos to my service manager for being up front with me, I think he was embarrased by the answer he was supposed to give me. He showed me this memo (for lack of a better term) after he called TECH SUPPORT, I assume it was emailed to him after his phone call.

So this goes hand in hand to match the TA 0022 from what I gather.....

Really gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling now.......LOL!

Oh ya, almost forgot, TA stands for TECH ARTICLE, thus TA0022

THANKS PA1195! Now that I looked at the TA, it is not what I saw at the dealer this past saturday, has much of the same info and may have been on pages I did not see. The one I saw specifically said there was no current fix available!
