what OIL temp are you getting
So as the title suggest Im looking to see what folks are getting for oil temps (not head, not cylinder) - your oil temps for a 2017 street glide 107. I called Harley motor company an the say the operating oil temp is 230 for the 2017 street glide. I got one of those fancy digital dip sticks and it says 230 most of the time - today it was 240 but it was 91 out side and that was after riding for about a hour. I always thought 190 or so was the old normal - any body else seeing 230s? At what oil temp should i be concerned? Now if you want to talk about cylinder/head temps from the EMC sensor mine are usually about 320 after riding about 40 minutes or so - seems a bit hot last year those where usually 290 or so. Im a bit concerned because this bike did slump once last fall an ever since then it seems to run hotter. my dealer checked it out last week and it passed the slumping test but that doesnt mean anything it only has slumped once in 5000 miles.

I noticed my oil temps fell into normal and acceptable range years ago right after I threw the oil temp dipstick away..I will say that I'm a believer in the fan assist oil cooler to keep things in check..Steve Cole's early testing validated it works as designed and for these oil cooled engines that oil can get pretty hot after it does its cooling job and returns to rinse and repeat its journey

89 degrees ambient air temp.
75 mph for 60 miles riding one up
oil temp.-224 degrees
Not that it makes any difference, but that is with Rotella diesel 15-40 in the crankcase. That is sure to give heartburn to some of the faithful Kool-Aid drinkers here.

I should have stated I am running a stage 3 114 kit that HD installed last year I have the fan oil cooler bought that last year, also have the fan device on the back cylinder . and I had my head pipes changed out last year to vance & hines and a tune of course. each one of these are suppose to lower temps. actually none of these effected temps much when I had each one installed.
the bike actually runs great 124 tq and 120 horse power. its just a bit hot but folks has been saying that these bikes with stage 3 kits at high rpms are hotter.

230 is also the normal operating temperature on the Rushmore bikes per shop manual.
100 degree days 2 up 80 mph I'll hit as high as low 255 on my 14 RK
Stuck in beach traffic highest I ever got was 267 and never hit that high again.
I did swap out the 6 row cooler on my 14 RK Rushmore for a 10 row Jagg. Just for the fun of it being in a HOT summer climate area and have noticed that oil temps now settle a bit lower from the highs...
Highest oil temperatures are always at the highest 80 MPH interstate type speeds except of course long term slow riding or stuck in traffic.
As far as how hot is a concern, I prefer to stay out of the 270 degree range and never quite hit it, prefer under 265 and I accept as normal anything between 200 and 255.

I probably have the same digital thermometer. Your readings are consistent with what I am seeing in the summer. When bike sumps I see 300 - 305. In the dealership now waiting on latest oil pump.
