I have a 114 Softail and no signs of sumping. Have even tried to make it sump. I admit I thought about installing the new oil pump plate with the seal. But decided that I might introduce some problem in the process. So screw it. I'm done worrying about it. My riding habits are not likely to change, so at this point I think I'm safe
I'm confused by this thread and OP. He asks if there are any owners that are happy with their M8's, given all the threads of ppl complaining. Then when MJ says "sure there are happy owners, you just didnt look hard enough" he says you're wrong!
I am really impressed that with Harley-Davidsons new Milwaukee 8 engine, all I can seem to find is complaints and wondering when their engine is going to sump after riding it at 4500 rpms for two hours. I ride Dyna’s and bought a Road King to tour. It seems great, love the comfort and think it is a well built machine.
Same here came from a Dyna to the M8 Road King and over 25,000 miles on M8 RK and still loving it.
After riding my '17 RKS for over a year, I can tell you I've become an M8 snob. When I've ridden my wife's Fat Boy Lo or friends '13 SG, I wonder how anybody can be happy with the Twin Cam. I just wish I had the $4k to upgrade to FM's 124 kit.
The way to be happy is to do a 117” kit on your TC. I like both of my RGS’s, the TC and the M8 since I’ve had TC tuned. Made all the difference in the world. I will say the stock M8 pulls hard enough that most people are going to be satisfied with it.
