Default Fan Oil Cooler

Not sure if anyone has installed one of these, but I just installed one of these on my RK, really easy. I know the SM says to remove exhaust but I left it on and just cut the bottom two Oetiker clamps and removed the hoses at the cooler. Two bolts and off it came. New one on and used two new oetiker clamps to reclamp hoses at cooler.

I still need to have dealer enable my fan.

Here is the clamp tool and Oetiker clamps

Good deal. I had the dealer install mine and they used the screw-tightening clamps.

I just had one of these installed at the dealer too. When I got home figured I'd turn off the EITMS. The first time I twisted the throttle the wrong way to disable it and it kicked on the fan. It sure sounds like it will do the job.

on both our 17s since the start, 100% sold on them, very worthwhile imo

What size (diameter) clamps did you use? I have a bunch of PEX clamps (same thing I’m pretty sure) and a ratcheting crimper. I’m going in for my 1k service soon and am going to have them install it. I won’t rely on worm clamps for this, even though it would probably be fine. I’m just a little nuts like that. Is there enough length on the barbs to use two clamps on each? My boating background has has ingrained doubling clamps on critical connections on me, so if I could, I’d like to do that here.

Thanks

I used a 17mm on the smaller hose and a 21mm on the larger

Not sure if you could double up, seems like overkill, LOL

just use worm clamps on the bottom hoses wrapping a little electrical tape on the end to keep them from digging in to the hose (which really isn't needed, just my OCD) , and after 2+ years and 30K miles just fine...every once in awhile they get a little twist to tighten them a smidge

Just ordered the kit. Also ordered some PEX clamps, as I don't have any of the larger 21mm ones. I was going to let the dealer install it when I go in for my 1K. I only need about five hours of riding, so one day after a good rain to clear the salt off the roads. Then I'll be at 1K. I've got my case of Red Line fluids sitting here waiting patiently. But I want to confirm they won't pull the exhaust to do it. I'm pretty sure I can get my guy there to agree. Otherwise I'll put it on myself.

Also thought about using fuel injector clamps (like this), way better then regular clamps, but I can't seem to find any 21mm ones.

I’m kinda missing something. Could you please post the name and/or part number for this cooler? Where you purchased it would be nice....

Thanks.

It’s the Harley fan assist oil cooler. Easily found on their “for the bike” website. The only one they sell for M8 touring.
